Plein Air Paintings

Magical light is often momentary.

En plein air is a French expression which means “in the open air”.  I keep a small paint box with me at all times to quickly sketch colors of light, and the mood of a moment  These studies are invaluable to me as inspiration for my studio paintings. They are fresh and hard to part with, but I like sharing them with you, so sometimes I pull a few out and let them go. Savvy collectors snap them up.

My collectors call them gems and little fellas, I just call them field studies.
